Six Honda C90s, Six Countries, Six Days!

Rippin Kitten – Six Honda C90s are about to embark on an incredible journey across six countries in just six days. The idea of touring such long distances usually calls for high-powered motorcycles, but these six riders are set to challenge the odds on their trusty Honda C90s. Covering an estimated 1,368 miles (2,201 km), their route stretches from Winterton, Lincolnshire, in England to Benidorm, Spain. This is not just an endurance test but also a noble cause.

More Than Just a Ride

The mission behind this adventure goes beyond the thrill of riding. John Haynes, along with his five friends, is using this journey as a fundraising effort for Lindsey Lodge Hospice, a facility that provided care for John’s father, Rod Haynes. Rod was a renowned speedway racer in the 1970s, and in his honor, the team aims to raise £10,000 (approximately $12,000) for the hospice.

Preparing six Honda C90s for such a grueling ride is no easy task. The team has worked extensively on modifications, tuning the gearing, and ensuring the machines are in peak condition. Acquiring six functional Honda C90s was already a challenge, but after months of effort, they managed to secure four red and two blue machines.

The Challenges of Long-Distance Touring

Riding across six countries on small-capacity motorcycles presents numerous challenges. The team anticipates covering 300 miles (482 km) per day, carrying all their essential gear and camping equipment to keep the trip as authentic and demanding as possible.

“We don’t want to make it too easy,” John stated. “We expect breakdowns and mechanical issues along the way, but that’s all part of the adventure. If we need to ride for 12 hours a day or more, we’re prepared for it.”

Despite the daunting task ahead, the group remains optimistic and excited. With a blend of mechanical expertise and determination, they are ready to push both themselves and their classic Honda C90s to the limit. Whether they succeed or not, this adventure stands as a testament to perseverance, camaraderie, and a passion for riding.
